Bio

Martin du Louvre was founded in 1994.

Located initially in Strasbourg and specializing in the Academic Fine Arts of the nineteenth century, the gallery gradually moved to Paris and its current location in the heart of the gallery district of the Faubourg Saint Honoré. It broadened its scope to include the modern and contemporary schools of the twentieth century, the design arts and photography.

The gallery's philosophy is one of reuniting extraordinary works of exceptional quality, regardless of the era in which they were created, impeccably documenting them and presenting them in a cogent and forceful manner. Great works of the past, rather then being categorized and segregated as isolated phenomena, are integrated into modern decors which allow the public to view them as part of a greater continuum of creative expression from the ancient past to the present day. Thus it is possible for a visitor to our gallery (with its interior newly designed by the internationally renowned architect, Christian Biecher) to find a primitave sculpture from the Valdivia culture presented alongside a bronze by Picasso, a cubist painting by the Czech, Jan Zrzavy, or a dining room suite dated 1917 by the De Stijl artist, Vilmos Huszar.

Since its inception, the gallery has participated regularly in prestigious international art fairs in New York, Palm Beach, Zurich, Milan, Paris and London.
